Reminding Program Participants to Get Stuff Done

When you're running a program, driving participant engagement is a balance between remembering that most programs are rarely someone's full-time commitment — and also knowing that engagement and satisfaction are going to be much higher when participants complete what they're supposed to!

Some examples of what I mean: Students who have to complete assignments; Founders who need to upload a pitch deck as part of an assignment; Partners who have to sign a contract.

For a Program Manager, this poses two problems. Problem A is how to track everything that needs to get done. Problem B is how to remind them to get it done without spamming or nagging. If you want the TL;DR on how Campground solves this problem, here's a quick demo.

Here's how it usually works today…

Learning management systems are solid platforms to track progress through a fully coherent course, and they provide a lot of intelligence / metrics on completion rates. Investing in an LMS is great if you have a curated course. Thinkific, Kajabi, Teachable are three commonly-used LMS's for programs.

But if your community is hanging out in Slack, Notion, Discord, LinkedIn Groups…tracking assignments per individual is a nightmare. When I was trying to improve student accountability for job hunting at FutureMap, I experimented with creating Google Forms for every module of content. But then I had 12 different forms…it was too hard to get ONE picture of a student's journey. One of our customers used Monday.com, but for 100 students with 100 different cards, it was a nightmare…not to mention that making even a small change to a task required a bunch of manual work to update every single instance of that task. Ouch.

Here's how we've solved this problem at Campground: Tasks!

You can create ONE list of tasks as an admin. That's the master list. And then you can assign it to any sub-group in your Campground, whether it's an individual, a specific cohort, stakeholder group ("All Employers"), or an entire program.

When folks log in, they can see the tasks they're assigned and simply submit / mark complete / upload a file - and it's done. Admins get a report on who's completed the tasks and who hasn't. And, the admin can quickly see the status of tasks, select those folks, copy their emails, and send a quick, personalized email to get them to complete it.
